TÜV Austria and SDT take top honours at the BEMAS Innovation Awards 2025

News

During the 2025 edition of the easyFairs Maintenance trade show, BEMAS, the Belgian Maintenance Association vzw, presented the BEMAS Digital Innovation Award and the Maintenance Innovation Award for the 14th time.

Twelve exhibitors at easyFairs MAINTENANCE 2025 submitted entries to compete for the BEMAS Digital Innovation Award or the Maintenance Innovation Award. These candidates were evaluated by a professional jury based on, among other criteria, their level of innovation and practical applicability. This resulted in three finalists for the Digital Innovation Award: TÜV Austria, SDT Ultrasound Solutions, and Hansa-Flex. For the Maintenance Innovation Award, Bilfinger, Dexis Belgium, and SDT Ultrasound Solutions were selected. During the trade show, the jury visited the finalists’ booths to conduct their final assessment.

Digital Innovation Award goes to TÜV Austria

The jury awarded the Digital Innovation Award to TÜV Austria for their Remote Inspection System Edge (RISE), recognising the high level of innovation in their solution. They particularly praised the combination of state-of-the-art technology with practical applicability, using acoustic emission measurements for continuous structural monitoring of critical infrastructure. The fact that RISE not only measures, but also analyses and provides actionable insights, was considered especially valuable. The jury was impressed by the scientific foundation of the solution and its compliance with relevant standards.

HANSA-FLEX and SDT Ultrasound Solutions were also strong finalists for the Digital Innovation Award with their advanced digital maintenance tools. HANSA-FLEX presented the X-CODE Manager, a software solution integrated into their customer portal that enables clear and structured management of hydraulic hoses. By supporting preventive maintenance planning and fast reordering through unique codes, the tool helps reduce downtime and enhance safety. SDT Ultrasound Solutions introduced the LUBExpert ON-GUARD, an automated ultrasonic lubrication system that uses continuous monitoring and smart algorithms to deliver precision lubrication, extend bearing life, and reduce maintenance costs. Both innovations contribute to a more efficient and reliable maintenance process.

SDT takes home the Maintenance Innovation Award

The Maintenance Innovation Award was granted to SDT Ultrasound Solutions for their CRY8120-series Acoustic Imager, a device that uses 200 MEMS microphones to detect compressed air leaks, electrical discharges, and mechanical faults in a user-friendly and mobile format. The jury was especially impressed by its practical field applicability and ease of use. What ultimately clinched the award was the significant savings potential: in scenarios where fast restarts after a shutdown are critical, this technology enables efficient and accurate leak detection, saving substantial time and costs.

Finalists Bilfinger and Dexis Belgium also stood out with their innovative solutions. Bilfinger presented the Go-Scan C-View, a portable real-time X-ray system that detects corrosion under insulation (CUI) without needing to remove the insulation. With its robust design and high resolution, the system is ideal for efficient field inspections. Dexis Belgium was nominated for GreaseBoss, a system that digitises manual lubrication using a smart head unit, grease meter, and QuickFit tags. This innovation provides complete visibility and control over the lubrication process, leading to more reliable maintenance and reduced machine downtime.
