Blogs

We are proud to share that SM4RTENANCE has officially been nominated for the First European Data Space Award in the category Most Innovative Emerging Data Space. This nomination places SM4RTENANCE among the three most advanced emerging European data spaces and underlines the strategic importance of the project within the European data strategy.

What is SM4RTENANCE?

SM4RTENANCE is a large-scale European collaborative project involving 47 partners from 11 EU countries, with a total budget of €14 million. The initiative is building a cross-sector industrial data space that enables secure and trustworthy data sharing across the entire lifecycle of industrial assets. By facilitating data exchange between OEMs, asset owners, service providers, and digital technology partners, SM4RTENANCE stimulates new multilateral digital value chains for smart, collaborative, and circular maintenance.

The project is embedded in the framework of the European data strategy and contributes to the development of one of the strategic common European data spaces for Industry 4.0. Its focus is on improving the competitiveness, sustainability, and resilience of the European manufacturing industry by enabling applications such as flexible asset management, predictive maintenance, and data-driven decision-making at scale.

Why this nomination matters

The nomination is the result of a first evaluation phase carried out by an independent group of European experts, who assessed the submitted data spaces based on predefined criteria. The fact that SM4RTENANCE ranks among the highest-rated initiatives confirms its innovative approach and the strong potential of industrial data sharing as a driver for digital transformation in manufacturing and maintenance.
