5 tips om uw spare parts optimaal te beheren

"Capital goods should not be left idle because of logistical bottlenecks.

But how do you ensure that the inventory (value) remains within acceptable limits? In our spare parts management training courses, you learn how to create the perfect balance between working capital, availability and operational costs.

Some tips from our trainer, Jürgen Donders:

  1. Create a sense of ownership and ensure that a function/role/discipline is responsible for the stock control parameters - i.e. someone other than the one placing the stock replenishment orders...
  2. Apply a classification based on price and frequency of demand and create clear strategies, think wholesale strategy, LEAN, Just In Time and Just In Case.
  3. Distinguish between planned and unplanned demand. Supply planned demand on demand and unplanned demand on stock
  4. Base stock levels on actual (realised) delivery and repair times. These often deviate from the contractually agreed times. At the same time, discuss the deviations with your suppliers.
  5. Involve procurement and maintenance for items with a limited history, identify procurement and process risks and streamline control parameters, for example with a decision tree.
