Maintenance Management

Nothing is more valuable than keeping your production equipment running.
But how?

BEMAS offers you a very practical 4-hour training course on the subject.

This training is also part of the Maintenance & Asset Management Training Cycle.

Content

  • The Deming wheel of asset utilisation
  • Measurement and analysis of losses
  • What is availability and unavailability: types and definitions
  • What is uptime?
  • What is OEE (TRG)? (introduction to the subject)
  • What is failure frequency rate, MTBF and MTBM?
  • The difference between MTBF and MTTF?
  • What is maintainability, MTTR and MDT?
  • The relationship between availability, MTBF and MTTR (formula)
  • First introduction to TPM: The 8 pillars of TPM (not in detail)

Learning objectives

  • To be able to name and understand the different types of maintenance.
  • To acquire a method to understand the main causes of lost time or downtime and what can be done about it? (Pareto Availability Killers)
  • To be able to distinguish the different types of availability and the difference with uptime.
  • Understand the components of OEE (TRG), and how it differs from availability.
  • Understand the relationship between MTBF, MTTR and availability.
  • Be able to calculate the MTBF of a production line.
  • Understand the difference between MTBF and MTTF.
  • To be able to distinguish the different interpretations of MTTR, to understand the components of MTTR, to understand the relationship with maintainability, to be able to calculate the MTTR of a production line, to know the difference with MDT.
  • Understand the relationship between MTBF, MTTR and availability.
  • Understand the average and best ratios and other OEEs in different industries.

Who is this training for?

This training aims to provide you with the essential basic principles, good practices in maintenance and associated methodologies, in order to start your job in a sustainable way. This 4-hour course is aimed at :

  • Maintenance engineers with little or no basic knowledge;

About the trainer

Serge Vanden Bulcke is a civil engineer (graduate of UCL). He spent several years designing and building mixing and grinding equipment for powdered products, then automatic handling equipment.

Since 1996, he has been active in industrial automation, and more particularly in the development and commissioning of automation and production monitoring systems. At the same time, he has been working on projects to optimise maintenance organisation since 2001, most often accompanied by the implementation of CMMS. Through the realisation of such organisational improvement projects, Serge has acquired a solid experience in maintenance management and asset management as well as in the change management often inherent to this type of project. He is certified in Asset Management by the Institute of Asset Management (IAM).
