RCM II - Reliability Centered Maintenance

Training
Reliability Engineering

Maintenance starts with a clear answer to the question: "what is the correct maintenance strategy for a specific asset? Only then can it be determined with certainty which people are needed to do the work, which spare parts must be available to do the work and which systems can be used to control the work.

Book RCM2

Reliability Centred Maintenance (RCM II) sheds light on this and provides a framework for the development of maintenance strategies. That is why BEMAS offers this three-day course with a highly qualified expert in the field. This course gives you an in-depth introduction to the theory, practice and benefits of RCM II.

"The RCM II course presents an innovative approach to maintenance for managers looking for improvement"

Learning objectives

  • The theory behind RCM II
  • The steps for a practical application of RCM II (the course contains many practical exercises and case studies)
  • What you can achieve with RCM II and how to get there
  • What resources are needed for a successful implementation of RCM II?

Content

  • Introduction to reliability centred maintenance
  • Defining problems and collecting information
    • Defining functions and desired performance levels
    • Establish ways in which company resources may not provide desired performance (functional disturbance)
    • Determining the causes of deviations (forms of interference)
    • Describe the effects when errors occur (consequences)
  • Malfunctions
    • Assessing the risks of malfunctions
    • Safety and warning components that may fail undesirably
    • Disturbances with environmental or safety risks
    • Disturbances affecting the production process or operational management (production level, production quality, delivery time)
    • Malfunctions involving only direct repair costs
  • Maintenance assessment
    • Condition-dependent maintenance
    • Periodic review
    • Periodic replacement
    • When, how often do you check the correct functioning?
    • When to revise the design?
    • When to wait for the fault to occur?
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of the various proactive tasks and determine the frequencies of application
  • Deployment of supervisors, production managers, fitters and specialists in MCR II groups
  • Role of the MCR II supervisor
    • Implementation strategies
    • How to start?
    • Determine what needs to be done if a proactive task cannot be found
    • Grouping tasks into maintenance schedules
    • Applying the MCR II process

Who is this training for?

Anyone interested in ensuring the optimal functioning of company assets in the broadest sense of the term. Specific to situations where safety, environmental requirements, on-time production or delivery are compromised. The level makes the course particularly interesting for:

  • Maintenance managers,
  • Maintenance supervisors
  • Reliability and Maintenance Engineers
  • Maintenance Technicians
  • Production managers,
  • Production supervisors
  • Operators
  • Plant engineers
  • All those who have to deal with the "operation and maintenance of assets
  • Environmental, safety and/or quality managers.

"The relationship between theory and practice is perfect thanks to the good concrete examples."

Votre formateur

Luc Brabants is THE RCM specialist in Belgium. With more than 25 years of experience in Maintenance & Asset Management, he has focused specifically on Reliability Centered Maintenance. He was the only one in Belgium to be licensed by Aladon and was trained by Mr. John Moubray himself (founder of Aladon, The Risk & Reliability Global Network in 1981, and the first to realise the universality of Reliability Centred Maintenance).

Today, Luc Brabants' focus is on improving reliability, safety, availability and quality. He has supervised processes at Barry Callebaut, Domtar Canada, Volvo Cars, SPE, Siemens, Exxon Belgium, Exxon France, Dana, Eval Europe, ArcelorMittal, Engie, BP, etc.

"Luc Brabants knows his stuff, knows what he is talking about and does it very easily."
