Building Robust Asset Management Frameworks – Case Study from South African Government Infrastructure
This webinar provides an overview of the journey to date relating to government infrastructure in South Africa, highlighting the essential need to move beyond corporate compliance and drive holistic change through distributed leadership.
Effective asset management frameworks are critical to ensure that assets deliver measurable value, support strategic objectives, and remain fit for purpose over their lifecycle. Moving beyond compliance, organisations need structured frameworks that enable better decisions, improved reliability, and controlled risk.
In this webinar, organised in the context of Global Asset Management Day, we explore how such a framework can be established, using the example of government infrastructure in South Africa. The case demonstrates how a shift towards distributed leadership and integrated practices can unlock tangible performance improvements.
Although the webinar focuses on public infrastructure, many of the principles are equally relevant for other large asset owners, including industrial organisations facing similar challenges in aligning strategy, data and people.

About the Global Asset Management Day
The Global Asset Management Day is an international initiative by the GFMAM that highlights the importance of effective asset management in delivering value, managing risk, and supporting long-term organisational performance. It brings together professionals, organisations, and institutions worldwide to share knowledge, best practices, and real-world experiences.
The initiative aims to raise awareness of how structured asset management approaches—aligned with standards such as ISO 55000—enable better decision-making across the asset lifecycle, from planning and acquisition to operation, maintenance, and renewal.
Global Asset Management Day also serves as a platform to showcase how asset management contributes to broader societal challenges, including infrastructure reliability, safety, and responsible resource use.
